"Claremont really understood the timeliness of our requirements and worked hard to turn our new office design and fit-out round in a short amount of time." Stella Chidzik, Office Manager

The brief

Rapid growth and an unsuitable and noisy office location led dynamic games studio Pixel Toys to relocate its Leamington Spa team. Now in a vibrant new space that reflects the organisation’s cutting edge games expertise, Claremont has created a highly memorable workspace to support continued growth.

Claremont was tasked with creating a dynamic open plan workspace for Pixel Toys in Regent Square House, in the heart of Leamington Spa. The design had to accommodate 55 members of staff initially, but with the flexibility to add another 30 as the firm continues to grow. The brief also called for an industrial and creative design theme and ample space to support its collaborative style and tech-focused work.

The results

The new workspace evokes a strong industrial theme thanks to exposed ceilings and services throughout. Warm wooden flooring and leather soft furnishing accents create a loft type atmosphere and the addition of a branded pool table and table football show the company’s inherently playful side.

An open and informal huddle space fronts on to reception to give an instant welcoming feel. Bleacher seating and bean bags complete the look and make it ideal for staff gatherings as well as game testing and development.

The office includes a specialist room dedicated to virtual reality, where Pixel Toys’ team can create and test new games. Two private offices accommodate HR and Finance and two small meeting rooms provide private, away-from-the-desk spaces.

A well-equipped and dramatic grey kitchen has been given a central location and includes a high breakfast bar, industrial metal lighting and colourful stools, doubling up as a space to eat lunch or host internal meetings.

As a real nod to the company’s gaming focus, an illustrated feature wall has been commissioned to include characters from every game they have created, plus a Pixel Toys sculpture has been made from reclaimed wood and steel.

Since moving in, Pixel Toys’ team has made a few of its own additions, with a red phone box and bespoke pool table, building on the industrial and playful design theme.

Claremont really understood the timeliness of our requirements and worked hard to turn our new office design and fit-out round in a short amount of time. The finished office captures the very essence of Pixel Toys and the team is delighted to have such a creative and playful place to call home.
