The brief

Part of a larger programme of work to redesign and fit-out three Paddy Power Betfair offices, this project involved refurbishing the London office to better reflect the business’s reputation as a dynamic place to work and to enable its transition to more agile ways of working.

The results

The project began with workplace consultancy to help Paddy Power Betfair understand how to achieve its agile working goals. This analytical process, which included observation studios, surveys and employee one-to-ones, identified that the gaming company could occupy just one of its two floors and halve its space requirement.

Now with all 230 employees located on one floor, Paddy Power Betfair has a new work environment that reflects its professional image and agile intentions. Designed to help attract and retain the best talent by giving them a dynamic and creative space – the refurbished office also captures the company’s commitment to employee wellbeing.

Overall, the workspace has been designed to offer greater choice to Paddy Power Betfair employees with a range of activity based work settings. A town hall space provides ample room for group discussions away from traditional desking and a green house, complete with cinema seats, offers something visually interesting and unexpected for lone and group working. In addition, there are 26 meeting rooms to support Paddy Power Betfair’s collaborative work style – each of which is unique in its design, colour and furniture choices.

The open plan environment takes numerous design cues from sport and movement, as well as the local area, with artwork showcasing the London bridges and the River Thames.

With a focus on sociability, the new office also includes a self-service café point serving beer, wine and coffee, which is located adjacent to Paddy Power Betfair’s in-house studios. Now housed in glazed pods so that employees can watch high profile stars like Jose Mourinho as they record adverts, the studios provide a real social focus and help to instil pride in the team.

A well-equipped games area complete with table tennis, air puck and games consoles adds to the workspace’s fun and relaxed atmosphere.
