Claremont was appointed to assist learndirect with the relocation to their service centre at One Colton Square in Leicester. The objective of the brief included to create a workspace which would have a positive impact on staff morale and productivity as well as provide a flexible working solution. Double the number of staff were envisaged to utilise the workstations.
Therefore the majority of staff would have to use hot desks and only a few would have permanent desk positions. With a large number of remote workers, it was important to incorporate a social and relaxation space, later to be known as ‘The Lounge’. This area needed to feel welcoming and comforting and, as such, required to be different in terms of furniture, fabrics and colour used to those in the open plan working zone.
The project involved creating a reception area, meeting and training rooms on the first floor, and largely open plan office space situated on the second and third floors. Claremont installed 234 Staverton workstations in the open plan working environment together with furniture in the meeting rooms, training rooms, reception, breakout areas and staff dining areas.
Warm purple shades were used in the relaxation areas, including ’The Lounge’ and fresh citrus colours in the staff dining areas, which contrast with the neutral colours used in the office space, ensuring each zone was well defined. Different flooring was also used to define each zone and make it easier for remote workers to navigate around the office.
A games room on the third floor had also been created to offer an alternative relaxation space. Claremont also carried out M&E works, partitioning, installation of staff kitchens, and storage solutions.
Claremont designed and created an environment in keeping with Learndirect’s welcoming, engaging and friendly culture.
