Eurofighter Typhoon/Vega Group
Eurofighter Typhoon / Vega GroupThe challenge
The project is the culmination of two years' development work with Vega Group to provide fourteen electronic classroom environments for the Royal Air Force at Coningsby. The classrooms were designed in order to undertake training for the new Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. The brief has been to devise the appropriate classroom and work station design against a strict budget constraint.
The solution
A series of fourteen classrooms for eight people plus an instructor, complete with visual display systems were implemented. The classrooms also include an off-the-shelf furniture package that incorporates the main fighter controls into the work surface whereby the thrust and control column mechanisms are built into the desk.
Claremont also procured the main information technology through relationships with the consortium headed by EADS, using Hewlett-Packard hardware. The intercom solution was designed through the software package and the overall result had to be representative of the solution designed for other locations in Germany, Spain and Italy.
The result
Vega Group contracted the entire procurement, design, delivery and installation programme to Claremont, working closely with the company to value-engineer the best possible result for all parties.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and was ready-for-training (RFT) as required.
