Logica DPMT

The challenge

Logica DPMT, a specialist training centre for the MOD, needed to demonstrate commitment to provide a new contemporary and technically advanced facility in order to be awarded a new eight year contract for that purpose. The brief was to give a more welcoming, open, intuitive and vibrant environment coupled with a higher level of security.

The solution

A complete refurbishment of the building over two floors comprising new lecture, seminar and training rooms with increased space dedicated to delegate lounge areas. The capacity of office area to provide expansion space for support staff was increased. A large restaurant and food retail facility catering for up to 150 people in an informal environment, including a relaxation zone was also incorporated.

The result

Physiological impact of colour was considered and appropriate selections have contributed to the enhanced impact of training sessions. An enlarged central core area beyond new secure entrance barriers has increased confidence in security whilst allowing free circulation on both floors. Delegate lounge areas have been designed to create café style break out/touchdown areas with soft seating and vending facilities. These greatly improved the delegate's perception of the environment and experience of Logica DPMT.

The design undertaken for Logica DPMT and ITS commitment in executing it, assisted the company in having its contract renewed with the MoD for a further eight years.
