



Claremont Group Interiors was appointed to work on a complex project to redesign, rebuild and completely restore the UK Headquarters of Spirax Sarco, the world's leading provider of steam system solutions. The existing premises needed rationalisation and up-dating, whilst provide a new contemporary look and feel. The project encompassed the restoration of the original Grade II listed Georgian office building, the design and construction of the new staff restaurant, full refurbishment and external remodelling of the existing training centre and full refurbishment of the main office wing. The work needed to be carried out in phases to ensure minimal disruption to the firm and its employees.

The Brief: The Training Centre
Spirax Sarco’s training centre is situated next to the main office building, Charlton House in Cheltenham. The centre required a complete internal and external refurbishment and transformation into a world class standard facility with services that represented Spirax Sarco’s precision engineering capabilities in the marketplace to the company’s staff and clients. It was paramount that the new training facility conveyed Spirax Sarco’s investment in market leading edge steam system technologies and accompanying training services. Claremont’s previous experience with other projects for Spirax Sarco, including Charlton House and The Summerhouse; its continuous consultative approach and capability to respond to Spirax Sarco’s brief convinced the company to choose them as their preferred supplier for this project.
The Solution: The Training Centre
Claremont’s initial tasks for this project included a site survey of the existing training facility building, the preparation of a full working drawings package with detailed drawings and specialist consultants’ design, the building regulation drawings and a full planning application. The project further encompassed the space planning, the procurement and installation of all interior furniture as well as the design and installation of bespoke joinery. A new, welcoming reception, a number of workshop areas, training rooms, breakout spaces and tea points were created. The work also comprised of partitioning and its manifestations, fitting suitable storage solutions, new lighting, carpets and flooring. A mixture of bold and subtle violet colours were used to convey a fresh and contemporary look and feel. Viewpoint’s audio-visual technology systems were installed in all the meeting and training rooms.
The Result: The Training Centre
Thanks to Claremont, Spirax Sarco is now able to provide both, its staff and clients, a new contemporary training centre, fully equipped with up-to date audio-visual technology. This enables the company to showcase their precision engineering system technologies and available training services in a productive and cutting edge teaching facility. At the same time the newly created workshop spaces, training rooms and breakout areas encourage team work as well as providing opportunities for self-study. The external refurbishment was completed to match the exterior of the newly built Summerhouse, providing a more uniform look and feel. Claremont delivered this project on time and in budget.
