Oxera is one of Europe's foremost independent economic consultancies with offices in Oxford, London and Brussels. The relocation of the London office to 200 Aldersgate was driven by the company’s need for a larger and more client orientated space. Claremont Group Interiors was appointed to complete the office interior design and fit-out package to create a welcoming space for Oxera’s clients and a contemporary working environment for the business.

The Brief
Oxera decided to relocate the company’s London office to 200 Aldersgate, which ground floor entrance and coffee shop had recently been refurbished to a high quality standard. The building’s 14th floor had also experienced a revamp with a new Cat A fit-out and was the perfect space for the company’s new office. Further work needed to be completed to turn the large open space with fitted cloakroom accommodation into a suitable working environment. Within Oxera’s brief, high importance was placed on a welcoming and high quality reception area to replicate the first impression visitors experience when entering the building. Oxera further preferred the design to be of a flowing curved style rather than a linear arrangement. The full requirements included a Cat B fit-out, client suite accommodation, open plan office space, hot desk area, meeting rooms and staff breakout areas.
The Solution and Result
Claremont’s design included a curved reception, leading through to the client suite. Three large meeting rooms can be opened up to form one large seminar space to seat up to 50 people, complete with a video conferencing facility. These flexible spaces are supplemented by a formal boardroom to hold twelve staff and two smaller rooms to seat six. The open plan office area accommodates staff in clusters of four and includes a centrally placed hot desk area. The open plan space is complemented by a number of informal meeting spaces and at the rear of the space is a welcoming staff breakout area. Together with Claremont, Oxera’s project team chose a number of different furniture manufacturers’ products for desking, and breakout and meeting room furniture. The design incorporated many bespoke joinery items, and graphic displays and finishes.
