The Brief
Royal Liver Group appointed Claremont Group Interiors to complete design and refurbishment works in one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings, the Royal Liver Building on George’s Dock. Claremont was brought on board to improve the design, functionality and effectiveness of the building’s physical environment across the common areas of all nine floors, as well as refurbishment works to the tenant space on the 3rd, 4th and 8th floors.
The Solution
With 2008 marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Liver Building’s foundation stone being laid, the Royal Liver Group made the decision to undertake a major upgrade of the listed building’s interior to match the standards offered by Liverpool’s thriving commercial market.
Claremont was appointed following a competitive bid to modernize the building’s common areas over nine floors, as well as the refurbishment of tenant spaces on the 3rd, 4th and the 8th floors.
The project commenced in July 2008, with a dedicated 20-strong Claremont project team based on-site for the duration of the works, responsible for undertaking and managing the project. The 9th floor common areas featured in this Case Study were completed in October 2008 and works across the remaining floors will continue into 2009.
Works are scheduled to continue into 2010.
"I am delighted to have Claremont on board as the principal contractor for the current refurbishment programme at Royal Liver Building. Claremont's quality design, commitment and reliability coupled with their expertise and experience make them the ideal partner for Royal Liver to revitalise this iconic Grade I Listed Building."
