McDonalds case study

Our brief was to develop a model to demonstrate how McDonald's building at East Finchley should be occupied and support the business by understanding the organisation, it's people, their work, communication, relationships, growth, change and brand.

Solution

We provided a questionnaire on an extranet site for all staff to complete, making it simple for all staff to participate in the project. We also carried out interviews, workshops and observation exercises to understand how the buildings were actually being used rather than the perception of use.

Result

We concluded there was a significant amount of space which could be used effectively to accommodate staff from another location. We also identified factors relating to the implementation of new ways of working over the next 5 years to provide 15% flexibility within the new building and we developed a short term adoption policy implementing a pilot model, enabling all departments to be accommodated freeing up 3 floors within the old building.
