The Brief

Mercer have brought together their two Glasgow offices from  Blythswood Square and Alhambra House into the exclusive G1 development in George Square. Claremont Group Interiors was appointed to complete the interior design, CAT B fit-out and provision of furniture for the 2nd, 3rd and 9th floors.

Mercer required a contemporary, yet functional space to make a good impression to clients and enable staff to work more closely as a team. To achieve this, it was essential to design a welcoming reception and visitors waiting area; flexible client suite and meeting rooms; functional photocopying, binding and print areas; and breakout space, including informal meeting  areas. The fit-out works comprised of internal partitioning and doors, floor coverings, decorations, lighting, kitchens / tea points, reception desk and all M&E work.

The Solution

Claremont has designed a contemporary interior space that allows maximum functionality for clients and internal staff  with a variety of facilities arrayed around a central ‘heart’ including tea points, informal meeting spaces and resource areas. At the centre of  the 2nd and 3rd floors, a central connecting curved wall around the lift area was created, forming a natural hub but also allowing a smooth traffic flow through the space. On the 9th floor, Claremont created additional and flexible meeting  space, one room with folding walls to enable to it to be quickly transformed into two smaller rooms. All meeting rooms on this floor overlook the roof terrace, creating a fantastic environment for clients. Reference to the buildings historic surroundings have been made throughout, through the use of graphics and artwork.

Claremont have created an interior to match the exclusive G1 development.

Claremont won the contract to Design and Build the new Flagship  office for Scotland in Glasgow in a four bid tender. Their design team impressed the Mercer management with their presentation and they went on to produce the design and carry out the fit out, indeed it was hard to see the difference from the digital photographs to actual photographs of the finished fit out and better still, the finished work looks better than the photographs!
