October 2007 - Greetings from Claremont!
Over the past three years or so, typical office densities in the UK have changed from around 15-16 sq m per person to around 10 sq m per person*. There's no doubt about it - the ways in which we are accommodating buildings is changing: companies are using less space to support more people. So what implications does this have for everybody involved in the development, design and management of buildings? In this month's newsletter Claremont's Managing Director, Mike Gardner, takes a look at changes in space demands and their impact on the office market. In other news, we present our latest Case Study for Shoosmiths Solicitors in Nottingham, and we also welcome a number of new recruits to the Claremont team, including; Giles Whitham (Design Consultant), Paul Reardon (Estimator), Roy Clayton (Contracts Engineer), Tom Annandale (Site Manager), & James Baker (Viewpoint Installation Engineer). *Source: Ramidus Consulting

Changing spacesIn 1965 a man called Gordon Moore coined the law that now bears his name by predicting that in the future chip density and therefore computing power would double every two years. By the 1970s that had been amended to every 18 months but Moore's Law is still seen as useful guide to the pace of change in technology. more» | ![]() |
