The improvement of the quality of life at the workplace and the safeguarding of the quality of life for us all - these, we believe, are simply two sides of the same coin.

The manufacturers with whom Claremont partners are all ecologically-conscious companies, the protection of our natural environment is a responsibility we take seriously and our partners are striving to reduce their impact on the environment by implementing sound manufacturing processes and policies.

An increasing number of our manufacturers are now accredited to the ISO 14001 environmental standards, and some view this as the minimum standards that they apply, taking this down their supply chain to ensure greener procurement.

In addition to reviewing manufacturing processes there is a drive towards sharing knowledge about these important issues which affect us all. For example Teknion work closely with LEEd (Leadership in Energy and Environmental design; the US Green Building Councils voluntary rating and certification programme for developing high performance sustainable green- built environments) and have provided information about LEEd to over 5000 industry professionals across North America and have a continuous programme of knowledge sharing through accredited training sessions.

Companies such as Orangebox and Brunner are designing products to be sustainable, with a lower ecological and carbon footprint.

The environmental aims of our manufacturing companies are achieved by protection of water, soil and air and efficient use of raw materials, replacing substances in manufacturing that are harmful to the environment and ideally sourcing sustainable alternatives.

The manufacturers are committed to ensuring waste sorting practices are in line with the latest methods and waste is avoided wherever feasible and recycled whenever possible, thus creating a recycling process in production. Adopting environmentally-conscious procurement, transport and logistic policies is also essential in reducing the impact on the environment and protecting the natural world for us all to enjoy for the future.
