The brief

Due to a prolonged period of expansion that included a growth in operations and workforce, MediaCom realised that its original offices on Commercial Street were no longer suitable for its needs. This created the opportunity to relocate to a more advantageous site in Manchester’s central business district, and 1 Hardman Street in Spinningfields was selected for the move.

MediaCom wanted a space that promoted collaborative working, and a client suite that reflected its innovative brand image. Claremont worked with the client to design its ideal office, including space planning, design and selecting furniture and fittings to reflect these values.

 

The results

Working closely with MediaCom, the design team at Claremont has created a space that opens up new ways of working for its staff, and makes a striking, on-brand impression with its clientele. The ground floor houses a signature presentation space, with folding walls providing the flexibility to create large and small areas as needed, fully fitted with AV technology. The open plan layout creates a relaxed, airy feel that helps clients feel at home as soon as they walk through the door.

On the top floor, an open terrace and staff breakout space provide an informal environment that is ideally suited to the creative, collaborative ethos of the company. Having this third place, away from the clamour of busy office desks and the formality of meeting rooms, allows ideas to flow freely and fosters the kind of experimentation that a cutting-edge media agency needs to stand out in a highly competitive market.
