The brief

DWF requested an open and collaborative work environment to mirror the look and feel of other offices in the group, while also giving a strong sense of local place. An onsite employee café was to be included in the design, to support collaboration and sociability amongst the team.

The results

Claremont worked closely with DWF’s Glasgow team to reflect the brand’s refreshed identity, while ensuring it suited local needs. Images of Glasgow’s most iconic buildings and landmarks have been used on selected walls and glazing to create a strong sense of place.

Claremont responded to the building’s unusual shape by locating a statement boardroom and meeting pods in its curved corners. The new office accommodates 100 staff in an open plan workspace, peppered with defined areas for team meetings, quiet reflection and private phone calls. Each of DWF’s different internal departments has been defined with colour. Corresponding colours have been used for the meeting pods, desk screens and task chairs to identify each ‘neighbourhood’ within the open plan space.

Ample storage for DWF’s 100-strong team has been provided in the centre of the floorplate, maximising the penetration of natural light into the office.

The addition of a 50-seat café gives DWF employees the opportunity to take time away from their desks and provides a more sociable environment for both visitors and employees. Careful space planning ensured that this could be accommodated within the floor plate without detracting from individual space allocation or the client suite.

The 5,900 sq ft client suite includes a curved reception and seating area leading to 10 meeting rooms, three of which can be combined into one larger space. All meeting rooms have integrated audio visual equipment and the office includes a dedicated video conferencing room.
