Charles River are a global pharmaceutical company who are passionate about improving the quality of people’s lives Claremont was appointed to help design and build their professional environments to contrast their company values.
Claremont was tasked with providing the design and fit-out of Charles River’s new building, with a specific focus on adding specialist laboratory and desk space for its 80-strong team.
Claremont has created a highly professional environment that includes meeting rooms, a cold store, specialist laboratories, desk space for 78 people, five meeting rooms, two quiet rooms, a kitchen and a break-out area split across two floors.
Special consideration was given to managing acoustics in the meeting and quiet rooms, where double glazed glass partitions and acoustic bags in the suspended ceiling have been installed.
Due to the specific infrastructural requirements of Charles River’s laboratories, Claremont’s team worked closely with specialist contractors for certain electrical and mechanical aspects of the fit-out. The decision to leave the services exposed in the laboratory’s first floor pitched ceiling gives a real sense of space and provides a visual wow.
With a clean, crisp and largely white finish in the laboratory areas, Claremont has used splashes of colour to create contrast, visual interest and warmth in the open-plan office.
Claremont also sought planning approval for and installed a new mini lift, as well as replacement of the original lift, all of which required careful attention to detail and liaison with the local planning department.
