Acxiom: London

Mark Mercer, Head of Property & Facilities at Acxiom comments “From the very beginning of the project Acxiom required a very different look and feel to its working environment. Working alongside Ken Bundy [Associate Director, Claremont] & Paul Edward [Director, Staverton], we looked at both evolution and revolution in the design proposal. The final design really met, and in some ways exceeded our expectations. This was very much a design lead project with Logic, Claremont and Acxiom working  in partnership to deliver a fantastic working environment for our associates”

Location: Waterloo, London
Sector: Marketing
Project Size: 30,000 sq ft
Scope of Works: Design > Fit-out > Furniture > Audio-Visual

The Brief

Whilst Acxiom wished to create a cost effective solution by consolidating two offices into one, they also had a strong desire to create an  effective team environment to promote internal communications. Staff well being was also an important driver for the project and Claremont were tasked with installing a gym into the basement of the building, together with showers and changing facilities. Claremont felt it was important to work with the architecture of the building and sympathetically refurbish the space while  creating a bright and modern workplace to meet the needs of the staff. The services are exposed on the ceiling to retain the original form and character of the building with co-ordinated coloured containment trays carrying the services across the ceiling, to conceal the wiring and pipe work.

The Solution—Design & Fit-out

Acxiom are occupying 4 floors of the 5 storey building. The 1st and 2nd floors have been fitted out as the office space, with the reception and client suite located on the ground floor. The basement level contains internal meeting rooms, the gym, and a social space for employees to take a break or have lunch.  The design scheme  focuses heavily providing a variety  of collaborative spaces which will aid collaboration, breakout spaces and  tea points, are situated in the centre of the 1st and 2nd floor office spaces, to encourage more informal meetings to take place. The meeting rooms have been carefully considered with both formal and informal meetings in mind. As well as the more traditional meeting rooms, there are rooms containing only soft seating for a more relaxed atmosphere.

The Solution—Furniture

Claremont have designed a series of creative and colourful spaces, each floor with a different colour scheme to give a clear sense of identity. This concept is complemented by the choice of finishes for the furniture. Working alongside the design team at Claremont, Logic Furniture Solutions  supplied all of the furniture for the project. The bench desking is the ZD range manufactured by Staverton, with a unique solution for the cellular offices which was driven by a client requirement to have a desk which can be easily used as a meeting table  when the office is not in use. The task seating is the Liberty chair supplied by Humanscale and the wide range of soft seating, cafe furniture and ancillary products are by Orangebox, Connection and Pledge.

The Result

Acxiom are vey pleased with the result. Claremont have  created a space which meets their needs and works well for them.
